Bringing Tiger Year cheers to senior citizens
What a great way to start the Lunar New Year of the Tiger!  On 12 February 2010, staff and department heads initiated the Lunar New Year countdown bringing food hampers to residents of St Vincent Home, to kick start the firm’s CSR project for 2010. Funded by Catholic charities, St Vincent is home to some old and destitute senior citizens. In the spirit of the Lunar New Year, traditional red-packets and mandarin oranges were given to residents to usher in the new Tiger Year, much to the residents’ delight. Germaine Seah and Ivy Sit from the technology advisory and internal audit services respectively led the residents through a couple of games which drew active participation and created some excitement amongst our elderly guests. One of the games saw two very senior gentlemen given center stage as they competed with each other in juggling oranges. As there can only be one winner, the competition ended with three rounds of ‘paper, scissors, stone’. This childhood game certainly brings back fond memories shared by all residents and the CSR team members. Mingling and chatting with residents revealed some interesting life stories of the residents. One was a former staff of the Swedish embassy who later became a steward on board a passenger liner to see the world!  Another was a CPA and there was even a lady who used to work for Singapore’s fist Prime Minister, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew.

Saturday at the Sunlove Home
For the past five years since 2003 the firm has organised one Saturday a year as Companionship Day at the SunLove Home. SunLove is home to around 200 intellectually and physically challenged people. Staff would spend time with the residents and serving them afternoon tea with cookies and snacks they bought for each visit.
